This is an honest and appropriate question! The answer is however No! 25 years and 2 diplomas in remedial massage means you get a professional treatment. It is very normal to feel tender and achy after your massage and this indicating your therapist actually did a very good job targeting the problem areas and starting the tentative process of stretching muscles that have become locked up and rigid.
After a remedial massage if you are sore in a specific area it is best to apply an ice pack to the effected area for up to two minutes and repeat every 30 minutes or so to ease discomfort and fast track the healing result.
It is even possible to have a very relaxing gentle massage and feel sore! Do not be alarmed- think of it the same way as going for a long walk and your legs feeling very sore the next day! Your muscles got a work out they very much needed!
The tenderness will subside and the result will be more supple muscles which means more strength, healthier joints, and better movement!
